Local Advocacy

Your Government Affairs Advisory Council (GAAC), interacts with and educates local government officials regarding personal property rights, real estate and small business. We also strive to inform you of government initiatives that affect you, your clients, and real estate.

We're actively engaged in a number of political issues affecting the real estate industry in the West Valley. We're currently in discussions with several cities regarding sign ordinances. We're also working to end the FHA loan denials in retirement communities due to the FHA Free Assumability.

In 2015 and 2016, along side Arizona Association of REALTORS®, we supported two solar related bills, SB 1465 and SB 1417. They both passed and require solar companies to provide a specific representative to homeowners wishing to sell their home, and include numerous consumer protections in these laws.

WeSERV monitors cities and towns for proposals of increased taxes, whether by installing a secondary tax, creating special taxing authorities or using other taxing mechanisms. We educate city staff and elected officials on the consequences of increasing taxes and support candidates who believe in these same principles.
